The Cup Game

The Cup Game (Improving Bow Hold)

Purpose: Improving Bow Hold

Players: 1+

To play the cup game all you need is a plastic cup and for each student to have only their bows.

Group Version

Have your students form a circle holding only their bows. Place a plastic cup on the tip of a students bow, that student (keeping a good bow hold) than passes the cup only using their bow to the person on their right who than takes it by hooking their bow under the cup than passes it to the next.

Rule: must keep a good bow hold at all times, if not, than they can’t pass the cup until they do.

Play a song and see how many times they can go around the circle before the song ends.

Additional versions

-See if they can beat their best number of times around the circle before the song ends.

-Go around the circle in a different direction

-Before passing the cup spin around once, next time try twice etc…

-Have everyone stand on one leg

-Use more then one cup

-Pass a few cups around but have one marked or a different color, play some music when the music stops who every has the marked/color cup wins.

-Make two circles and see which team can make it around the most times before the song ends.

-Make two straight lines and see which team can pass it to the last person first, if you have a big enough room space each student a few feet apart and have them run (or walk) the cup to the next person like a relay race. Make them do something different every time like hop on one leg or walk backwards etc..

-Form two straight lines, only the first person in each line gets a bow and cup, (no one else) Stand far away with your hands out to your sides. When you say go the first student of each line runs(walks) down with their bow and cup (on top) to you, giving you a high-five (if they have a good bow hold) then they run(walk) back giving their bow with the cup to the next person repeating the process until everyone does it.
